I charged Bells varsity to produce Nobel Laureate — Obasanjo

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, disclosed that he established a University to produce a Nobel laureate over time.
Obasanjo stated this while addressing the management team of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Efunrun, Delta State who paid him a courtesy call at his Abeokuta residence.

Obasanjo in his remarks said he instructed the management of the Bells University, Otta, established by him in 2004 to ensure that the institution produced a Nobel Laureate within 20 years of its establishment.
Obasanjo recalled that the institution was established partly to train and provide the much needed expertise for the Nigerian petroleum industry.
He noted that the university was one of the relevant institution the nation could depend on in its ongoing efforts at developing the petroleum industry.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Akii Ibhadode, who led the team in his opening remarks commended Obasanjo for the initiative of establishing the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor, however, stressed the need for adequate funding of the institution.
