The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Sapele constituency in the 2015 general election, Chief Felix Anirah, has denied rumours that he was settled with N180 million by the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Monday Igbuya, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to ditch his electoral case against the Speaker.
The Appeal Court in Benin City, in an appeal brought before it by
Anirah, had ruled in favour of Igbuya, thereby upholding the ruling of
the election petition tribunal in Asaba.
Anirah, in a statement, yesterday, accused two aides of the Speaker as the brains behind the rumour to hoodwink the gullible electorate of his constituency.
Describing the PDP as a party that feeds on lies, he said that he cannot be bought over, stressing that he did not at anytime meet with anyone, including the Orodje of Okpe, HRM Orhue 1, to settle his election matter out of court.
According to him, “Though the Court of Appeal chose to give judgement in favour of Igbuya despite the avalanche of evidence brought before it, I will never relent until the mandate given to me by the people of my constituency is recovered.”
