The counsel to the Federal Government, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) has said it will call five witnesses to prove that the Senate president, Bukola Saraki is guilty of the 13-count charge brought before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) by the Code of Conduct (CCB).
Urging the court to proceed with the trial instead of adjourning, Jacobs said the prosecuting counsel is ready to prove its case against Saraki that he made an anticipatory declaration in his assets declaration form.
“I will call five witnesses to show that the defendants made an anticipatory declaration. That he acquired some assets as the Governor of Kwara state and never declared them.
“We will also lead evidence to show how he (Saraki) moved money from his Nigerian accounts to other foreign accounts,” he told the court yesterday, September 22.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress seems to have made up its mind to part away with the Senate president, Bukola Saraki.
According to reports, the ruling party is considering former minority leader in the 7th Senate and former governor of Benue state, senator George Akume and the wife to the national leader of the party, senator Remi Tinubu as likely replacement for Saraki. Also being considered are two ranking senators from the South-West zone.
